How I Got My Butt in Gear
1 min readApr 27, 2021
Today is my first post along my journey to becoming a Unity Software Developer.
Here is how I got here:
- Graduate college with a degree in Graphic Design, even though this type of art was not something I enjoyed making.
- Spend a year unemployed, in the midst of Covid, wondering how the heck I’m gonna go anywhere in life.
- Decide that I’m gonna make some stories in my head that I had for years come to life by making a game.
- Realize I have no idea where to start.
- Watch Thomas Brush, GDC, and other youtubers about making games.
- Realize that I am in way over my head.
- Made a smaller game idea.
- Watch some Udemy courses on coding c#.
- Get a job at a grocery store because money is running low.
- Realize that while I started my new job I forgot practically everything I learned.
- Got an email from GamedevHQ about a program to help coding stick, and getting a career in Unity development.
- Freaked out at the thought of committing to a career path.
- Joined anyway, its sounds like an opportunity I would regret passing up.
- Here I am.
